Phillies reliever Jose Alvarado has been suspended for 3 games by Major League Baseball for his actions in an on-field altercation with Mets outfielder Dominic Smith. Alvarado is currently appealing the suspension and can continue to pitch during his appeal.
The Mets haven’t won the National League East since 2015, when they won 90 games and made their first World Series appearance in 15 years, losing in five games to the Kansas City Royals. In 2020 they finished just fourth in the division, but with the amount of talent on the roster & the humongous offseason they just had, they might just be expected to do what they did six years ago.
