Union Lose Opener To Inter Miami CF 2-1

The long road to second consecutive Supporter’s Shield starts tonight. The Philadelphia Union host Inter Miami CF in their home opener. Philly is looking to pick up where they left off last season as one of the most dominant teams in the league. They return stand out goalkeeper Andre Blake and looked to send a message on opening night.

First Half

The Union did a good job early of establishing the pace. They played quickly and were immediately in striking distance to open the scoring. However. they unfortunately came up empty on their first trip down. in the 6′ Philly had kick sail over the top of the net squandering a penalty opportunity. A close call came in the 27′ as Sergio Santos was stopped from point blank range. A yellow card was issued to Miami in the 30′ on cheap shot to Kacper Pryzblyko. The first half would end with score knotted at zero with neither team able to get on the scoreboard.

Second Half

Philly continued to attack in the second half. They almost broke the tie in the 51′ on what was a beautiful that Pryzbylko just missed. Fortunately they would get home for their first score of the season, in the 54′ on a sweet goal from Jamiro Monteiro with an assist Pryzbylko. Union lead 1-0. A header from Cory Burke just missed in the 61′ minute as the Union really start to put on the pressure offensively. Miami would tie things up in the 72’ to make the score 1-1. Miami would score again in the 82′ to take a 2-1 lead late in the game. Philly looked to be gassed at that point. The Union wouldn’t be able to recover and would fall to Miami 2-1
