Joel Embiid left the game halfway through the third quarter last night after falling awkwardly on his left knee. He left the game under his own power but with a significant limp and it was determined he hyperextended his knee with an MRI to come today.
Luckily for 76er fans and Embiid, this morning ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that there was no structural damage and the MVP front-runner only has a bone bruise.
ESPN Sources with @ramonashelburne: Philadelphia Sixers star Joel Embiid's MRI showed no structural damage to his left knee, just a bone bruise. ACL and meniscus are fine. No timeline yet on a return.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 13, 2021
Shams Charania, of The Athletic followed up saying that Joel is only expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
The team, fans, and Embiid himself can breathe a sigh of fresh air, as the big man can continue his MVP caliber season in a few weeks. Now it’s time for his teammates to step up and carry the load while Embiid is getting healthy.
