While the displeasure with Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been evident with Eagles fans for quite sometime. It is becoming more and more obvious that the players have also become fed up with the executive’s constant meddling and micromanaging. Although there have been some subtle digs at Roseman in the past these new revelations are even more troubling.
New reports surface in an article by the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane that Roseman and star right tackle Lane Johnson got into it regularly. One such incident occurred while the Birds were in London to face the Jaguars. Sources claim Roseman berated Johnson over his reluctance to play with a high ankle sprain. A back and forth would lead to Johnson suiting up anyway and Roseman remarking
“Good, you have your mouthpiece in, now you can’t say anything stupid.”Howie Roseman to T Lane Johnson
Comments like this are unwarranted. Johnson is one of the toughest players on the roster and wouldn’t have trepidation over playing unless he thought his presence may hurt the team. Roseman was out of line and set a bad precedent.
With these new reports and owner Jeffery Lurie’s persistence to go away from Roseman’s thinking and, to stick with 2nd year quarterback Jalen Hurts. You can bet that the GM’s reign of immunity is slowly coming to an end. If things don’t change in a hurry Roseman might not just find himself back down in the basement but out of the building entirely. But alas all we can do is wait and see.
