The 2018 number 16th pick, Zhaire Smith, was traded over the weekend to Detroit. In return, the 76ers received Center Tony Bradley. In a follow-up move, it seems that Smith will be stretched and waived by Detroit.
Zhaire, who was involved in a trade that sent Mikal Bridges to the Phoenix Suns on draft night, was considered a project with a high ceiling coming into the draft. Unfortunately for Smith, he had an allergic reaction before his rookie year which landed him in the hospital. Smith was never able to rebound to a point where he could find consistent playing time on the 76ers.
Tony Bradley is a 6 foot 10 center, who averaged 4.4 points, and 4.2 rebounds in Utah prior to being traded to Detroit and then Philadelphia. Bradley fills the vacant third center position, that was once occupied by Norvelle Pelle, who the Sixers recently did not pick up his option.
