Philadelphia’s rising welterweight contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis has an early Christmas present for the city’s boxing fans.
Mike Coppinger tweeted out the information initially that Ennis (26-0 24 KOs) would be in the featured bout against Thomas Dulorme (25-4-1 16 KOs) as part of the undercard of Showtime’s Nordine Oubaali-Nonito Donaire card on December 12th.
Ennis has been climbing the long ladder at welterweight and is doing it in increasingly impressive fashion. Over his last 16 fights, he knocked out every opponent within 6 rounds. This year he’s stopped Bakhityar Eyubox and Juan Carlos Abreu, neither of whom had been finished before. He also currently ranks in the top 15 of three different sanctioning bodies.
Dulorme is a very good fighter who has provided serious opposition to top-level welterweights in a loss to Yordenis Ugas and drew with Jesse Vargas. He should be able to give Ennis some interesting looks, at least early.
The fights are slated to take place at Uncasville, CT’s Mohegan Sun Casino.
