In a move that was long over due, and surprised virtually no one. Matt Klentak has stepped down as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Klentak’s time in Philadelphia was full of puzzling moves that kept the team submerged in mediocrity. One blunder after another saw the Phillies miss the postseason time and time again.

A Record Of Disappointment

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

In five years as the GM in Philadelphia Klentak put together a team that went 326–382. For those of you who aren’t math wizzes that’s a winning percentage of barely 46%. In those seasoned he managed to build one of the worst bullpens in recent memory while simultaneously refusing to ink proven commodities like catcher J.T. Realmuto to long term deals. It’s no wonder he’s on the way out. And probably won’t be missed.
