An Opponent Without An Identity
The Eagles start the season in the nations capital. But for the first in the historic rivalry, Washington has new look. The Redskins name, that was surrounded in controversy, is now gone. The are now known temporarily as the Washington Football Team. They don’t really have an identity to speak of, and with a new coaching staff it make take time to develop one.
The biggest match up in this game will be Philly’s dynamic offense, led by Carson Wentz versus Washington’s stingy defense. While Washington has been inconsistent offensively over past few years, their defense has always showed up ready to play. It will be up to Wentz to evade the rush and make accurate throws to his targets downfield. Too much time in the pocket against this front seven could spell disaster. They also have secret weapon in former Eagle Ronald Darby, looming in their secondary.
Let’s be honest. It’s clear the Eagles are the more talented team man for man. The -6 point spread is indicative of that. There is no reason why despite Washington’s tough defense, Philly can not win this game handedly. They are way faster at the skill positions, with players such as Miles Sanders and DeSean Jackson and they should pull away in the end.
Predicted Score: Philadelphia 27 Washington 14
