Wings Go All In During Extended Offseason

The National Lacrosse League like many other sports leagues felt the wrath of the Covid 19 pandemic this past spring. Unfortunately for them and their fans the decision was made to cancel all play until next season. However, that didn’t stop our Philadelphia Wings from making a lot of moves to solidify their future.

The Wings wasted no time resigning star goaltender Zach Higgins to 3yr deal. This keeps “the brick wall” in town until at least 2023. Also Blaze Riorden, Isaiah Davis-Allen and Liam Byrnes signed new 2 year deals. Last but not least Alex Pace, Matt Marinier, and Kyle Marr inked deals for the next season. Philly looks to bring back a solid core.

Key Trades and Acquisitions

Philly also made some key trades and picked up a few worthwhile free agents. In a blockbuster trade they sent fan favorite Josh Currier and two 1st round picks (2020,2021) to Saskatchewan in exchange for Ben Macintosh and three 2nd round picks (2 in 2020 and another in 2023). The Wings also sent Liam Patton and Justin Guterding to Buffalo in exchange for Brock Sorensen and a 2nd round pick. And finally they got Nick Finlay from New York for a 4th round pick in this year’s draft.

Among the free agent pick ups were Alex Crepinsek from Georgia, Corey Small from Buffalo, Angus Goodleaf from Rochester, and Dylan Maltz. All of whom were signed to one year deals, with the exception of Crepinsek.
